/other was founded in Glasgow in 2019 by Alyesha Choudhury, Carl C.Z. Jonsson, Mia Pinder-Hussein, and Tareq Tamimi. Its current members collaborate on all aspects of the collective’s work: original design, critical research and writing, and collaborator and public outreach.

Alyesha graduated in 2022 from the Mackintosh School of Architecture, Glasgow, with a Diploma in Architecture, and is currently partaking in the first ever class of the Design Practice MArch programme at the Royal College of Art, London. She worked as the lead intern for the 2020 edition of the Dhaka Art Summit where she designed a low carbon food court structure and the BMW Pavilion. In Scotland, she has had experience with Hoskins Architects in Glasgow and Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh. In 2021 she co-led the Spring Friday Lecture Series at the Mackintosh School with guest speakers including Marina Tabassum, the Funambulist, and Farshid Moussavi. In 2022, she was chosen to be part of the core team of Gender Ecologies: Climate Responsive Structures - a live build of a zero carbon bamboo pavilion and a traditional Pakistani chullah in Granary Square, led by Yasmeen Lari, and produced by the British Council and INTBAU.

Carl received a Master of Architecture with distinction in 2023 from the Mackintosh School of Architecture, for his project A Horizon of Possibility: the Image-Architecture of Mies van der Rohe and Beyond. He is currently working as an architect and urbanist at LIST in Paris, and has previously worked in architectural practices in Sweden, most notably as an intern for Andreas Martin-löf Arkitekter in Stockholm. As artist-in-residence for the Climate Academy, a majority student-led body campaigning for legislative action on climate change within the sphere of the EU, he has made illustrations for two books by Matthew Pye on the climate crisis in relation to philosophy.

Mia graduated in 2024 from the Mackintosh School of Architecture with a Master of Architecture. Her graduating project The Right to the City references Henri Lefebvre’s slogan and incorporates filmwork as well as an anarchist handbook. She has worked within various contexts, most notably as an intern at NAME architecture, in Paris, and as an archives assistant at Somerset House in London. In 2022 she co-led the programming of the Spring Friday Lecture Series at the Mackintosh School of Architecture titled Know No Bounds with guest speakers including Space Caviar, Sumayya Vally, and Dele Adeyemo.
